Above The Ruins

Above The Ruins

Emerging Post-Punk Revival Band

Above The Ruins was a short-lived British post-punk band that emerged in the mid-1980s. The group was formed by Tony Wakeford, who was previously associated with the controversial band Death in June and the influential post-punk group Crisis. Above The Ruins released one album, "Songs of the Wolf," in 1986. The album showcased a mix of post-punk and industrial influences, with lyrics that often touched on dark and political themes. Despite the potential for a broader appeal within the alternative music scene at the time, Above The Ruins did not achieve significant commercial success and disbanded shortly after the release of their only album. Tony Wakeford went on to form Sol Invictus, a band that became a key player in the neofolk genre.
