Aaliyah Dana Haughton, known professionally as Aaliyah, was an American singer, actress, and model who rose to fame in the mid-1990s. Born on January 16, 1979, in Brooklyn, New York, she was signed to Jive Records at the age of 12 and her debut album "Age Ain't Nothing But a Number" was released in 1994 when she was just 15 years old. The album was a success, certified double Platinum by the RIAA, and introduced Aaliyah to the music scene with hits like "Back & Forth" and the title track. Her second album, "One In A Million," released in 1996 under Blackground Records and Atlantic Records, marked a significant progression in her career. The album showcased her maturing voice and a new partnership with producers Timbaland and Missy Elliott, resulting in a more innovative sound that fused R&B with hip-hop and garnered critical acclaim.
