"Rising Force" is the first studio album by guitarist Yngwie Malmsteen. The album was released on March 5, 1984 on Polydor Records. The album reached number 14 on the Swedish album chart and number 60 on the US Billboard 200. It also received a Grammy Award nomination for Best Rock Instrumental Performance in 1986. The album also reached #1 on Guitar World magazine's Top Ten Shred Albums list. It has been said that Yngwie J. Malmsteen was, is, and always will be the greatest shredder of all time. With his debut he basically invented the genre. That's why it's considered the seminal album of shred guitarists and the neoclassical metal genre. "Black Star" and "Far Beyond The Sun" have become two of Malmsteen's most popular songs and are essential tracks in his live setlist. In a 2008 interview with Guitar World magazine, Malmsteen spoke of playing both songs until his death.
