Her extraordinarily emotional songs have delighted fans around the world since her pop debut Little Earthquakes (1992). On her third pop album Boys For Pele, released almost exactly 20 years ago, Tori Amos not only proved herself to be an exceptional songwriter and unique performer, but it was also the first album she produced on her own and on her own. The album became one of her most successful, catapulting to #2 on the US and UK charts, and the title track reached the Top 10 in Germany, Australia, Austria, Belgium, the Netherlands and Sweden. To celebrate its 20th anniversary, Boys For Pele is released on Rhino in a lavish deluxe edition that includes B-sides, rarities and four previously unreleased tracks, as well as a remastered original album. Boys For Pele Deluxe is released as a 2CD and the original album (without bonus tracks) is also available as a 2LP. Not only technically, Boys For Pele is an uncompromising work that revolves around mythology ("Pele" is a Hawaiian volcano goddess), oppression and self-discovery. Boys For Pele became a turning point in Amos' career. Alongside fan favourites such as Caught A Light Sneeze and Hey Jupiter, Armand Van Helden's breakthrough remix of Professional Widow was a hit, reaching number one in the UK singles and dance charts.
