The Stone Roses is the first studio album by English rock band The Stone Roses. It was recorded mostly at London's Battery Studios with producer John Leckie from June 1988 to February 1989 and released in May of that year on Silvertone Records. The Stone Roses were not an immediate success, but became popular for their high-profile concert appearances, which also helped establish the group as a stalwart on Madchester's booming cultural scene. In later years, critical acclaim also improved significantly, with many critics rating her highly in best album polls. In the third edition of Colin Larkin's All Time Top 1000 Albums (2000) it was ranked 11th. It has sold more than four million copies worldwide.
