Legendary psychedelic band The Brian Jonestown Massacre release their eighteenth album seven months after their last studio album. The self-titled album contains nine songs and is released on frontman Anton Newcombe's A Recordings label, who also recorded and produced it himself at his Berlin-based Cobra studio. The release was originally scheduled for September last year, but due to an extremely successful tour of the US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and Europe, the date has been pushed back to 2019. The new album, which was recorded a year ago, features Sara Neidorf on drums, Heike Marie Radeker (LeVent) on bass, Hakon Adalsteinsson (BJM, The Third Sound, Gunman And The Holy Ghost) on guitar and Anton Newcombe (as usual) on several instruments. Rike Bienert, who has been involved in previous BJM productions, can be heard as a guest vocalist on the album Tombes Oubliées. Many of the new songs have already been used live on the 2018 European tour. Anton Newcombe has released four highly acclaimed albums and an EP with The Brian Jonestown Massacre, a soundtrack and two collaborative albums with Tess Parks over the past five years. All releases were recorded and produced at Anton's studio in Berlin. BJM's Bon Bon was featured on the soundtrack to the Palme d'Or winning film Dheepan, and Anton also wrote the music for Philip John's Moondogs (Svengali, Downton Abbey, Being Human).
