Talking Heads : Fear of Music is the third studio album by American new wave band Talking Heads, released in 1979. The album was produced by the band's lead singer David Byrne and Brian Eno and was recorded at the Record Plant in New York City. Fear of Music marked a departure for the band as they began to incorporate elements of funk and punk rock into their music. The album was a critical and commercial success, and Rolling Stone magazine ranked it 215th on its list of the 500 greatest albums of all time. The album's lead single, "Life During Wartime", became a hit in the United States and the album's second single, "Once in a Lifetime", became a popular music video. The album's third single, "Burning Down the House", was also a hit and became the band's signature song. The album Fear of Music was certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America and is cited as a major influence on the development of alternative rock.
