Swans: The Glowing Man version on vinyl 3LP in Standard edition. This particular edition was published in Europe in publishing company Young God Records in cooperation with Mute on 17. June 2016.
Swans' last album with the well-known line-up "The Glowing Man" is the title of the new, already fourteenth studio album of noise rock pioneers Swans. Again, it is a monumental album with a playing time of no less than 120 minutes - although "The Glowing Man" contains only eight tracks in total. One of them is "The World Looks Red/The World Looks Black". This is a song whose lyrics were written by frontman and founder Michael Gira 35 years ago for Sonic Youth. Two songs, "People Like Us" and "Finally, Peace" have already been described by Gira as farewell songs. In the lead-up to the new album, the band announced that they would be performing the current lineup for the last time on "The Glowing Man". The line-up currently consists of Michael Gira (vocals, guitar), Christoph Hahn (guitar, vocals), Thor Harris (drums), Christopher Pravdica (bass, vocals), Phil Puleo (drums, vocals), Norman Westberg (guitar, vocals) and Bill Rieflin (drums, piano, guitar, vocals). However, Swans have not yet announced what is next for the band. Additional musical support on the new album is provided by vocalist Jennifer Gira on the song "When Will I Return" and cellist Okkyung Lee on the song "Cloud Of Unknowing". Together, Swans and their guests returned to the Sonic Ranch studio in the desert outside El Paso. Behind the mixing desk was producer John Congleton, with whom the band collaborated on their previous album "To Be Kind" (2014). "The Glowing Man" is available on a double CD and a 3-LP version. For true fans, a set consisting of a double CD and DVD is also available. The DVD includes a live performance recording from 2015. The future of Swans seems to be uncertain. But with "The Glowing Man", the experimental rockers show once again that they shouldn't think about quitting for a long time yet.
Album spans genres Rock, Noise and Post Rock.
