Originally released in 1977 on the Red Star label, the album didn't receive much acclaim at the time, but over the years has become one of the most influential post-punk albums ever. Many publications have cited it as one of the best albums of all time. The number of bands Suicide has influenced is also legendary. New Order, Depeche Mode, Bruce Springsteen, Moby, Soft Cell, The Jesus & Mary Chain, Primal Scream and Nick Cave are just a few of their renowned fans. Suicide formed in the early 1970s and re-emerged in 1976 at the heart of the New York punk scene. The band was releasing and playing acclaimed shows all over the place until 2015 - the death of Alan Vega in July 2016 ended their existence.
