Stratovarius: Best Of version on 2CD in Remastered edition. This particular edition was published in Germany in publishing company Ear Music on 27. May 2016.
Stratovarius are one of the most influential and successful power metal bands in the world and have become one of the greats of the metal scene. The Finns have 16 studio albums and more than eleven Top 5 placements to their credit in their native Finland, and in Germany they reached an all-time high chart position of #27 with their latest studio album "Eternal" (2015). Stratovarius effortlessly manage to combine energetic melodies with elaborate arrangements to create bombastic heavy metal tracks. Formed more than 30 years ago under the name "Black Water", the band, whose name is a combination of the words Stratocaster and Stradivarius, released their debut album "Fright Night" in 1989. Between 1997 and 2004, Stratovarius produced their three most successful works to date - "Visions" (1997), "Destiny" (1999) and "Infinite" (2000), full of timeless power metal classics like "Black Diamond" and "Hunting High And Low". With each successive album, the Finns' fan base grew and grew, and even abroad Stratovarius was hailed as the founders of progressive symphonic power metal. And also their current album shines with one of the most streamed power metal tracks "Unbreakable", the catchy "Halcyon Days" and the rocking "Shine In The Dark" - all songs of course can't be missing on a best-of album. The two CDs are filled to the brim with selections from the band's more than 30-year history, and the bestofka includes one standout moment: the brand new song "End Of Days", which will sweeten the wait for the new album for fans. With a lavishly produced cover full of (pictorial) rarities, as well as liner notes written by the band, 2016 remastered tracks and one surprise or another, the best-of should not be missing in any well-run heavy metal household. The limited special edition also includes a bonus CD featuring the band's brilliant live performance at the 2015 Wacken Open Air Festival. The best-of heralds a major reissue series: the complete Stratovarius catalogue is being reissued with extensive bonus material.
