Includes remastered tracks from the album, live material from one of the band's earliest performances and a rare studio performance. Booklet includes liner notes by Richard Edson, Glenn Branca and Byron Coley. Sonic youth's eponymous debut twelve-inch was recorded in late 1981 at radio city music hall in nyc and originally released on neutral songwriter glenn branca's label. The album is loosely based on songs the newly formed group performed at a week-long noisefest event (and remains the only recorded document of the early lineup, which featured actor richard edson on drums). The goofin' records release, which returns on CD, also includes additional live material from the 1981 concert and an outtake from an early studio session. "We wanted it to sound like the saw we were into. It wasn't, but we were lucky that it sounded like a record. We recorded it in two eight-hour sessions in a studio in Radio City music hall called plaza sound. The doorman let us in through the back door." - Kim Gordon
