Německé heavymetalové legendy Running Wild , vedené tajemným frontmanem Rock N'Rolfem Kasparekem , založily v roce 1987 svým průlomovým albem "Under Jolly Roger" žánr pirátského metalu. Po skončení turné "Death Or Glory" došlo k reorganizaci členů kapely, a tak se v roce 1991 skupina rozhodla znovu nahrát své nejvýznamnější skladby z prvních tří alb.

Výsledkem bylo album "The First Years Of Piracy" a kapela jím uzavřela první kapitolu kariéry Running Wild.
