Roger Waters: Amused To Death LTD version on vinyl 2LP in limited Remastered edition. This particular edition was published in USA in publishing company Analogue Productions in cooperation with Columbia and Legacy on 5. March 2021.
Talk about a blockbuster: here's one! The double LP was originally released 20 years ago in a very small run; now "Amused To Death" is reborn as a 200g double LP from Analogue Productions. "Amused To Death" was mixed by Pink Floyd producer/engineer James Guthrie and co-mastered with Doug Sax on the vinyl, which is then pressed to perfection by Quality Record Pressings! A great album, both in terms of ideas, lyrics and music. On his third solo album, Roger Waters, former bassist, singer, songwriter and co-founder of Pink Floyd, takes the listener on a journey into his inner self, exploring how mass media, particularly television, affects human society. The title of this complex concept album is taken from a book by writer Neil Postman, who also explores the dangers and awareness of how mass media shapes our lives. In the title track, aliens land on Earth after the demise of humanity and find only skeletons gathered around televisions. The alien anthropologists use all sorts of tests to find out the cause of these "sad deaths." Their conclusion? "This species has been bludgeoned to death. = "This species is sick to death." The idea is illustrated by the cover photo of a gorilla watching TV - "just flipping through the channels to see if anything interests it," says Waters. Like many of us these days. Q magazine describes Amused To Death as sounding more like a Pink Floyd album than Waters' other solo efforts to date. It's a brother to "The Wall", perhaps even a distant relative of "Dark Side Of The Moon", which should please fans of those albums. Original pressings of "Amused To Death" are so rare these days that you have to pay up to $800 to get a copy in good condition. No expense was spared on this historic reissue. Let's say it again: This release is edited from analog master tapes. James Guthrie and Doug Sax mastered this vinyl version, which is perfectly pressed by Quality Record Pressings! "Amused To Death" was originally mixed using Q-Sound virtual surround sound, which enhances the spatial feel of the music and the various sound effects scattered throughout the album. Analogue Productions' reissue faithfully reproduces this three-dimensional sensation. "Amused To Death" has an amazing recording quality, lush depth and rich sound. The fourteen tracks are intertwined, meaning this album is best enjoyed as a whole. Using the shuffle function could be likened to indiscriminately reading single pages of a thick essay. Waters covers a wide range of topics such as capitalism, war, religion, American fast food, television, film director Stanley Kubrick and Broadway composer Andrew Lloyd Webber.
Album spans genres Rock, Progressive rock and Art Rock. 200g Gatefold 200 Gram Vinyl Limited Edition.
