Rage: Resurrection Day DIGI version on CD in digipack edition. This particular edition was published in Europe in publishing company Steamhammer in cooperation with SPV on 17. September 2021.
Fans were delighted when Rage frontman Peavy Wagner unveiled his band's new lineup with two guitarists in the summer of 2020, announcing a return to the personnel constellation of classics like Black In Mind and End Of All Days. Following the departure of Marcos Rodriguez last year, Stefan Weber (ex-Axxis) and just a few weeks later Jean Bormann (Angel Inc, Rage & Ruins) joined the band. The fourth member is drummer Vassilios "Lucky" Maniatopoulos, who has been part of Rage since 2015. The current line-up was first seen in sound and image in the video for "The Price Of War 2.0", a new version of the song from the album Black In Mind, available on all major online channels from June 2020. Immediately afterwards, the foursome began work on a brand new album, Resurrection Day, which will be available via Steamhammer/SPV as a CD digipack, vinyl double album and digital download. "I'm surprised at how quickly the new line-up found itself as a homogeneous team and how positively the individual talents of each band member are manifesting themselves," Wagner looks back on a very creative production phase and explains in relation to the new record, "I feel that our sound is still typical Rage on the one hand, but on the other hand has gained a youthful freshness." Rage have recorded twelve new songs, the stylistic range of which is hardly more characteristic of the band. This ranges from gritty thrash metal tracks like "Virginity" (also the first video), "The Age Of Reason" and "Extinction Overkill" to mid-tempo cuts like "Arrogance And Ignorance" and "Monetary Gods" to the pure ballad "Black Room" as a balancing soothing pole. "On Resurrection Day, everyone gets exactly what they want as a Rage fan, plus a surprise or two," promises Peavy, mentioning in particular "Travelling Through Time," a number that explores the extremes between stray baller grooves (O-Ton Peavy) and epic moments to the extreme. "The song is inspired by Renaissance composer Giorgio Mainerio," Peavy explains. "There's a Mainieri piece called 'Schiarazula Marazula' with a beautiful theme that I often play at home on acoustic guitar. Jean and I adapted it to the Rage format and gave it a different rhythmic aspect that made it more intense. We've never done a number like 'Traveling Through Time' before." Speaking of which: On Resurrection Day, Rage once again collaborate with Spain's Pepe Herrera, who contributed atmospheric orchestral arrangements to four songs ("Resurrection Day", "The Age Of Reason", "Traveling Through Time", "Black Room"). "As in the past, some of our songs take on a whole new dimension, more depth and even more expressiveness thanks to the master's orchestration," Peavy rejoices in the extremely successful "connection with Spain". Speaking of which: Resurrection Day was mixed by Herrera's compatriot Dani González Suárez, who has also been helping the band with the live mix for years. And last but not least: Peavy proves once again that his lyrics go beyond pure metal clichés. Although Resurrection Day is not a concept album in the traditional sense, there is a common thread running through all the numbers. And that's where the special appeal for me lay this time, in that I was able to take a closer look at things that I've been working on for a long time." So you can look forward to a special Rage album and, of course, finally to the band's concerts. Situations permitting, Peavy and his men will embark on an extensive European tour in November 2021. With Resurrection Day in the bag, these shows are guaranteed to be a very explosive event!
Album spans genres Rock and Heavy Metal. Digipack.
