Primus is an American rock band from San Francisco, California, formed in 1988. The band was founded by bassist Les Claypool and guitarist Larry LaLonde, former members of Blind Illusion. Primus has released nine studio albums, two live albums, four compilation albums, and two EPs. Their debut album Frizzle Fry was released in 1990. Primus' third album, Sailing the Seas of Cheese, was released in 1991 and reached number 71 on the Billboard 200. In 2003, the band released a DVD/CD set entitled Animals Should Not Try to Act Like People, which was certified gold in the United States. Primus' seventh album, Green Naugahyde, was released in 2011 and reached #12 on the Billboard 200 chart. The band's eighth album, Primus & the Chocolate Factory with the Fungi Ensemble, was released in 2014 and peaked at number 7 on the Billboard 200. The band's ninth album, The Desaturating Seven, was released on September 29, 2017.
