Peter Gabriel: Up version on CD in Standard edition. This particular edition was published in Europe in publishing company Real World Records in cooperation with Virgin on 27. September 2002.
After ten years, PETER GABRIEL releases his long-awaited new solo album UP. UP is his first studio album since 1992's US, which sold many millions of copies worldwide. PETER GABRIEL's solo career has spanned more than 25 years and UP is the twelfth album he has released in that span. "This album," PETER GABRIEL explains the content of UP, "focuses more on the beginning and end of life, less on the middle. UP has become a very personal album, reflecting on a life growing out of death, also acknowledging patterns and forces that exist outside of our normal perception." An extraordinary list of musicians contributed to the UP album. However, PETER's primary focus was on drums and percussion. This lineup includes Manu Katch, Ged Lynch, Dominic Greensmith and Will White on drums, and Mahut Dominique and Hossam Ramzy who have settled into the percussion ranks. Familiar GABRIEL faces David Rhodes (guitar) and Tony Levin (bass) appear on the album, as does Danny Thompson on bass. We also hear a huge range of vocalists such as the great and sadly now deceased Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, gospel group Blind Boys Of Alabama and PETER's own daughter Melanie. The song Sky Blue is probably a song that was written in the past. On it you can hear Daniel Lanois with a very atmospheric guitar and - together with Peter Green - one of PETER GABRIEL's idols from his youth.
Album spans genres Rock, Electronic, Pop Rock, Downtempo and Synth-pop.
