Orchestral Manoeuvres In The Dark: Liberator version on vinyl LP in Remastered edition. This particular edition was published in Europe in publishing company Virgin in cooperation with EMI and UMC on 6. August 2021.
First time back on record: 'Liberator' Almost 20 years have passed since the release of Orchestral Manoeuvres In The Dark's ninth studio album 'Liberator'. The album has not been available on vinyl since its original release. "Liberator" was originally released on June 14, 1993 and contains a total of twelve songs, eleven of which are Andy McCluskey originals and a cover version of Velvet Undergroud's "Sunday Morning". Singles from the album included the songs "Stand Above Me", "Dream Of Me" and "Everyday". Recording took place at The Pink Museum and The Ministry studios in Liverpool, England with producer Phil Coxon and musicians who had been hired for the previous album, 1991's "Sugar Tax". And so the sound of "Liberator", like its predecessor, continued to focus on dance-pop and synth-pop. Techno and house influences can be heard here. Although OMD's frontman himself thought the album "messed up" because it was "hectic and chaotic", it reached the Top 20 charts several times, including #14 in the UK and #17 in Germany. The singles "Stand Above Me" and "Dream Of Me" also reached the Top 25 of the UK singles chart. The album "Liberator" was remastered from the original tapes at the famous Abbey Road studios for the re-release. The reissue is released on black 180g vinyl. Orchestral Manoeuvres In The Dark, OMD for short, was formed in 1978. The only permanent member is singer, songwriter and musician Andy McCluskey. The British group was one of the most important bands of the new wave and synth-pop of the 1980s. But even beyond the 80s they have released many more successful albums up to the present day.
