"Neu!: Neu!" is the debut studio album by the German krautrock band Neu!, released in 1972 on the Brain Records label. The album is a seminal work in the krautrock genre, known for its innovative and minimalist approach to rock music. It features six tracks, opening with the hypnotic "Hallogallo," which is characterized by its steady motorik beat—a rhythmic style that would become a signature of the genre. Other tracks include "Sonderangebot," an atmospheric soundscape; "Weissensee," which presents a more somber and reflective mood; "Im Glück," a tranquil and ambient piece with the sound of water and acoustic guitar; "Negativland," offering a darker, more aggressive tone with distorted guitars; and "Lieber Honig," a slow, melancholic closer to the album. The band members Michael Rother (guitar, keyboards) and Klaus Dinger (drums) created a pioneering sound that influenced countless artists and helped shape the direction of experimental and electronic music for decades to come.
