On their debut album Industrial Silence, Norwegian rock band Madrugada have created a melancholic work with soaring vocals by Sivert Høyem. The masterful guitar and harmonica playing of the late Robert Buras adds a special recognition value to the recording. Madrugada creates a beautiful musical environment with only traditional instruments, a bit of piano and pedal steel guitar. Sometimes he sounds like Leonard Cohen or 16 Horsepower, other times like Nick Cave. Their style is spherical and warm like other Scandinavian bands, such as Sigur Ros or Bjork. The album contains the hits Shine, This Old House, Electric and Quite Emotional. Madrugada are masters of melancholy captured in music.
