Product Information MAD SEASON was formed by PEARL JAM guitarist Mike McCready, ALICE IN CHAINS vocalist Layne Staley, bassist John Baker Saunders and Barrett Martin on drums. 'Above' is the only studio album they have recorded. It was released in March 1995 and features guest appearances by MARK LANEGAN . MAD SEASON is an English term for the time of year when psilocybin mushrooms are in full bloom, and a term McCready related to "the season of drinking and drug use". It's not so inappropriate given that the band formed after McCready and Saunders met in rehab. The album, a mix of melancholy ballads and hard rock, proved to be a certified gold hit: it just missed the top 20. Introducing one of the classics of the so-called "grunge" era.
