Louis Daniel "Satchmo" Armstrong (1901-1971) was an American jazz trumpeter, singer and actor who is considered one of the most important jazz soloists. Stylistically, he influenced almost all later trumpeters of traditional jazz styles. Satchmo, whose unmistakable voice has gained worldwide popularity, is one of the most famous jazz singers along with Billie Holiday and Ella Fitzgerald. Armstrong's musical roots go back to New Orleans jazz. He played a crucial role in the evolution of the style from collective improvisation to expressive soloing, establishing himself as a star soloist in jazz. Especially in the 1920s and 1930s, he set the technical standards for jazz trumpeters. Due to health problems, he was later unable to continue. In 1960, Armstrong received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. This compilation contains tracks such as "Down By The Riverside", "Mack The Knife", "Georgia On My Mind", "When The Saints Go Marchin' In", "Let's Fall In Love" and of course "C'est si bon" and features the greatest achievements of this outstanding musician.
