Kvelertak: Meir LTD | CLR version on vinyl 2LP in limited colored edition. This particular edition was published in Norway in publishing company Indie Recordings on 30. April 2021.
They're called punk and metal, but deep down, Norwegian berserkers Kvelertak are the living, fire-breathing embodiment of rock'n'roll. Since forming in 2006, they've earned a loyal fan base that craves their incredibly wild live shows, which have seen them burn two fiery tires around the world. The word "enthusiastic" doesn't even begin to describe Kvelertak, and their success can already be considered the beginning of a legend: Their enthusiastically received 2011 debut, produced by Converge's Kurt Ballou, was named "Best Norwegian Debut of All Time" by Norwegian rock writer Asbjørn Slettemark, Germany's Metal Hammer awarded Kvelertak "Best Debut Album," Spellemannprisen (Norway's equivalent of the Grammys) awarded Kvelertak "Best New Artist" and "Best Rock Album," and iTunes named Kvelertak American Metal Breakthrough Artist of 2011. They were also unanimously praised by Metal Hammer UK, Terrorizer, Rock Hard and Kerrang! magazines, and named "the most exciting new band in the world". And Kvelertak - which means "strangle" in German - shows no signs of letting up. In 2011 they stormed the SXSW festival, Mastodon invited them to support in Bergen, Norway, and at a sold-out Foo Fighters show Dave Grohl himself presented them with their first gold records. The Scandinavian sextet have toured the world, playing everywhere from the UK to Australia, including a gig in Singapore that ended in the street, stopped traffic and became a YouTube hit. But the underlying message is the music - a blend of rock, punk and metal so infectious it should come with a warning sign. Watch out, world, because their second album Meir is on its way! "It's similar to the first one, only 'more' in every way," says six-string guitarist Bjarte Lund Rolland. "The songs are bigger, the hard songs are harder, the pop songs are poppier and so on." "This stuff will blow your brains out," adds singer Erlend Hjelvik, whose storm-inducing vocals may be in Norwegian, but instead he speaks a language of rough bravado like few others. "The first album was basically a pure party, the second one is now a hangover where you ring the bell for round two and start drinking again the next day. You get drunk quickly and you're in a weird 'fuck you all' mood. That's also called the 'shampoo effect'." Whether it's the Shampoo Effect or one of the most furious manifestations of 21st century musical madness, these Stavanger boys are out to conquer the world. Imagine stunning guitar solos that recall the heady days of Guns N' Roses, offset by the muscularity of Metallica and coupled with the party atmosphere of wild rockabilly: Kvelertak are nothing short of a fjord fiesta. "The most important thing is that this album is as shameless as the first one," says Bjarte. "I'm already absolutely thrilled." So are we, Bjarte. So are we.
Album spans genres Hard Rock, Crust Punk, Hardcore Punk and Black 'n' Roll. & Orange Transparent With Purple Splatter Vinyl Limited Edition.
