John Lennon & Yoko Ono: Milk And Honey version on vinyl LP in Remastered edition. This particular edition was published in Europe in publishing company Polydor in cooperation with Ono Music on 20. January 2017.

During the recording of Double Fantasy in 1980, two albums were to be made, the second of which was to be released later, but Lennon's murder tragically halted the project. A little over three years later, Yoko Ono released cassettes of many of the songs planned for this album under the title Milk and Honey, which is in the same John-Yoko-John-Yoko dialogic vein as its predecessor. Not surprisingly, therefore, it is a rougher, less polished product that lacks the final touches and additional footage that Lennon would likely have requested. Still, Lennon's songs were often quite strong at this stage of their development, heavier than the songs on Double Fantasy in general, and the ad libs and studio interludes that may not have made it into the final cut give us a better glimpse into Lennon's delightfully idiosyncratic personality. "Nobody Told Me," the album's advance single, is a swinging, enigmatic track, perhaps the best thing to come out of 1980, despite the unfinished transition to the chorus. The next single, "Borrowed Time," is a pensive, sparingly phrased meditation on aging to a Caribbean beat. Yoko may not be as strong as John, but her contributions are surprisingly listenable - especially the reggae track "Don't Be Scared" - and have a more topical structure, with her lyrics more of a reaction to John's songs. Towards the end of the album, the tone becomes sentimental, culminating in one of John's finest songs, "Grow Old With Me," which is presented on its own cassette instead of a studio recording. The irony of this song and some of Lennon's other songs is of course poignant given the horrific events of December 8, 1980; that and the fact that these songs have not been released as often as the songs on Double Fantasy lead some to prefer this sequel.
