The album was released as a double CD, triple vinyl LP and digital download. It was also released as a box set that includes the double CD, a DVD of the band's performance at the 1985 Rock in Rio festival, and a book containing rare photos and sleeve notes. The album was a commercial success, reaching the top ten in several countries and earning a gold certificate in the United States. Critics praised it and praised the band's songwriting and musicianship.
