Iron Butterfly: Original Album Series version on 5CD/Box Set in Standard edition. This particular edition was published in Europe in publishing company Rhino Records (2) in cooperation with ATCO Records and WEA on 25. November 2016.
Album titles: Heavy (1968) In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida (1968) Ball (1969) Live (1970) Metamorphosis (1970) The first five Iron Butterfly albums are collected here, followed by two more albums on the MCA label in 1975. In the late 1960s, some of the bands that started out in the so-called psychedelic era moved to a heavier sound that eventually came to be called heavy metal. If you were around at the time, you wouldn't have called it that because the term didn't take hold until a few years later. But that's beside the point: the important thing is that one of the bands in the midst of such a transition was Iron Butterfly, who blew American radio stations away with the epic "In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida," the title track of their 1968 album.
