The album debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 chart, selling 195,000 copies in its first week in the United States. The album was certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) for shipping one million copies in the United States. The album spawned four singles, "I Bet My Life", "Shots", "Gold" and "Thunder". The album received mixed reviews from music critics. Some praised it for its production and themes, while others criticized it for its lyrical content and lack of innovation.
