Exactly one year ago, Seong-Jin Cho won first prize at the renowned International Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw. By winning the first prize, he joined the ranks of pianists on the Deutsche Grammophon label whose names ring in the ears of every classical music lover: Martha Argerich, Maurizio Pollini, Rafal Blechacz, Yundi and others. The album was released immediately after winning the competition and became the best-selling classical album of 2015 worldwide, went triple platinum in Korea within a week, topped the pop charts only thanks to pre-orders, and went gold in Poland. The young Korean's first studio recording includes Fryderyk Chopin's First Piano Concerto with the London Symphony Orchestra conducted by Gianandrea Noseda and Chopin's 4 Ballades.
