Freddie Mercury Barcelona is a 1988 album on which Mercury sings and writes lyrics and features Spanish composer and conductor Montserrat Caballé. The album was recorded after a successful performance of the opera "Carmen" by both artists at the 1987 Montserrat Caballé Festival. The album combines elements of opera, pop and rock music. Mercury and Caballé duet on several tracks on the album, including the title track "Barcelona". The album was commercially successful, reaching number six in the UK and number eight in the US. Critics praised the album, with AllMusic awarding it five stars and stating that it was "one of the most unique and ambitious albums of the 1980s".
