The jazz singer is accompanied by Herb Ellis (guitar), Gus Johnson (drums), Stan Levey (percussion), Lou Levy (piano), Wilfred Middlebrooks (bass) and Joe Mondragon (bass). On Clap Hands, Here Comes Charlie! we experience Ella at her best with an outstanding - and often underrated - set. A great opportunity to rediscover old familiar classics. This recording is part of a series of 25 Verve reissues released by Analogue Productions. The original analog tapes have been re-mastered at Sterling Sound in New York by mastering engineer George Marino. Many tapes have been sent to other labels for decades as copies only, but Sterling Sound works so closely with Universal Music, which owns the Verve label, that it occasionally makes an exception.
