Future Rebels Always Something New from Dream Theater: Just three years after their last original album, the progressive metal legends from New York present their thirteenth studio album "The Astonishing". It is a concept album, created in collaboration with an orchestra. Guitarist John Petrucci began writing the story of "The Astonishing" in mid-2013 and introduced it to the rest of the band a year later. Songwriting began in early 2015 at Cove City Sound Studios in Long Island, New York, where the album was eventually recorded and produced by Petrucci. The band was supported by composer and conductor David Campbell, who led the orchestra during the recording process. The result is a monumental concept double album that includes two acts with a total of 32 tracks. "The Astonishing" tells the story of a group of rebels trying to rebel against the oppressive rule of a retro-futuristic world in 2285. Music plays a central role. With over thirty years of history and thirteen albums to their credit, Dream Theater is one of metal's absolute elite. With "The Astonishing" they prove that they can still surprise. A concept album.
