"You Got Me Fucked Up" is the album that Deez Nuts had to write at this point. Singer JJ Peters explains, "It brings a breath of fresh air that we and our fans have been missing. What's most noticeable about the songs, our performance and the vibe of the whole album is that we've returned to our signature party sound. However, this is not about the lyrics, but the fact that the songs literally scream fun." While Deez Nuts once again worked with Andrew Neufeld (Comeback Kid, Sights & Sounds) as co-producer, they deliberately chose new locations to write and record the album. "Unlike the previous two productions, this time we wrote in Toronto instead of New York and recorded in Los Angeles instead of Boston. The new environment definitely had a positive effect on the ten new songs." "You Got Me Fucked Up is exactly that: ten catchy songs. You look in vain for twenty-second fun songs. "A lot of people go by the principle that if something works, there's no need to change it. My attitude has always been: if you don't evolve, you die. I couldn't wait a second longer to make that happen with DN and this album." According to Peters, "You Got Me Fucked Up" is the most important album in their discography since "Stay True" - and he's eager to share it with everyone.
