"Live in Stuttgart 1975" and other recordings yet to be released in the Can concert series have been compiled from the best bootleg recordings available and mixed and mastered using 21st century technology. The project was led by Can founding member Irmin Schmidt and the band's longtime producer and sound engineer Rene Tinner. The new five-volume album "Can Live in Stuttgart 1975" documents an important and impressive part of Can's history. As technical glitches repeatedly sabotaged planned live recordings in the 1970s, they were missing from the Spoon catalogue. Now, under the guidance of founding member Irmin Schmidt and CAN producer and sound engineer René Tinner, the best bootleg recordings have been taken through the 21st century technological mill to present these important historical documents in the best possible quality. Formed in 1967 and disbanded a little over a decade later, CAN's unprecedented and daring combination of hypnotic grooves and avant-garde instrumental textures has made them one of the most important and innovative bands of all time. The new LIVE series reveals a whole new perspective on the band. You'll hear familiar themes, riffs and motifs pop up and float through the jam, but often they're only fleetingly recognizable faces in the swirling crowd. You also discover a lot of music that never made it into the official album canon. The recordings go to more extreme areas than Can's studio work: from gentle ambient drift rock to the infamous "Godzilla" moments. And even as the band members adapt and chase the beat from minute to minute, you can hear the extraordinary musical telepathy they all share.
