Hart's fourth album Bang Bang Boom Boom was released in 2012. The album was produced by Kevin Shirley, who also produced Hart's previous album Don't Explain. Hart and Shirley recorded the album at Shirley's studio in Las Vegas. The album features Hart's regular band, which includes guitarists Jon Nichols and Waddy Wachtel, bassist Bob Glaub, drummer Kenny Aronoff and keyboardist Jim Cox. Hart said the album was inspired by her divorce from her first husband, actor Scott Baio. She said, "I was in a really bad place. I was really angry and hurt. I was in a lot of pain and I was really angry. I was like, 'I'm not going to be a victim. I'm going to get up and do something about this pain." And so I decided I was going to do it. The first single from the album, "Fire on the Floor," was released in September 2012. The song went to number one on Billboard's blues chart. The second single from the album, "Leave the Light On", was released in January 2013. The third single from the album, "Sinner's Prayer", was released in May 2013.
