When British group Bastille first went global three years ago with their hit Pompeii, no one probably expected that the four-piece from London would become one of the most popular British bands of the last decade in a short time. After the success of their debut Bad Blood and its reissue, which sold more than four million copies worldwide, there's finally a new record... The follow-up to Bad Blood has been named Wild World and will hit the market on September 9th. The basic version of the album will have fourteen songs, while the deluxe version will have five more. In addition to the digital format, the album will also be available for purchase on black vinyl as a double vinyl, complete with extensive artwork and a code for free digital download...Bastille, who are best represented in public by charismatic singer Dan Smith, recorded the album again in the same small studio in South London where their debut album was once recorded. The aforementioned Dan also wrote all of the new songs, and together with Mark Crewe, the band's imaginary fifth member, he once again took care of the production. While the band continues to emphasize novel melodies and catchy choruses, they also promise some musical maturation on their new album... "If our first record was about growing up and the fear that surrounds it, the second album is about trying to make sense of the world around us, both from everyone's perspective and through the media. It's all about questioning the world and the people in it. We wanted this album to be a little bit confusing - extroverted and introverted, at times dark and at times not," explains Dan Smith, who adds in the same breath that the band was also inspired musically by the darker period of Depeche Mode's work.That Bastille's new album will be one of the most anticipated titles of the year is also suggested by the fan interest associated with the unveiling of the album's pilot single, the song Good Grief. The latter was almost immediately put into the top rotation of most European radio stations upon its release and so far it is certainly not doing badly. As it seems, we definitely have a lot to look forward to in September... Although actually not only in September, but also on November 26th, where the band will once again perform in Prague.
