The album was recorded at Sonic Pump Studios in Helsinki, Finland and mastered at Chartmakers in Helsinki. Eclipse is the first album to feature bassist Niclas Etelävuori, who replaced Pekka Kasari. The album also features a guest appearance by Apocalyptica cellist Eicca Toppinen on the track "House of Sleep". Eclipse was the band's first album to reach number one on the Finnish album chart.
