Fontaines D.C.

Fontaines D.C.

Irish post-punk band

Fontaines D.C. is an Irish post-punk band formed in Dublin in 2017. The group consists of Grian Chatten (vocals), Carlos O'Connell (guitar), Conor Curley (guitar), Conor Deegan III (bass), and Tom Coll (drums). They quickly gained attention for their raw, energetic sound and poetic, socially conscious lyrics. Their debut album, "Dogrel," released in 2019, was met with critical acclaim and was shortlisted for the Mercury Prize, as well as earning them a nomination for Best Rock Album at the Grammy Awards. Following the success of their first record, Fontaines D.C. released "A Hero's Death" in 2020, which further solidified their reputation and showcased a maturing sound. The album was also nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Rock Album and received another Mercury Prize nomination. Continuing their upward trajectory, the band released "Skinty Fia" in 2022, which delved into themes of identity and belonging against the backdrop of their experiences as Irishmen living in England. Fontaines D.C.'s rise has been marked by their intense live performances and a distinctive blend of punk energy with literary lyricism, making them one of the most talked-about bands in the contemporary rock scene.
