Flamengo

Flamengo

Flamengo was a Czechoslovak rock band formed in the late 1960s, known for their progressive rock and jazz fusion style. The band was part of the Czechoslovak big beat scene, which included other notable groups such as The Matadors and Blue Effect. Flamengo's music was characterized by complex arrangements, instrumental proficiency, and the charismatic presence of lead singer Vladimír Mišík. Their most famous album is "Kuře v hodinkách" (Chicken in the Watch), released in 1972, which is considered a milestone in Czechoslovak rock music. The album showcased a blend of rock, jazz, and blues influences with Czech lyrics and is highly regarded for its innovative approach to music during that era. Flamengo's career was impacted by the political climate of the time, which led to certain restrictions and challenges within the music industry under the communist regime. Despite these difficulties, Flamengo left a lasting legacy on the Czechoslovak music scene before eventually disbanding. The albums "Bazarem Proměn 1967–1976" and "Paní V Černém (Singly 1967–1972)" are compilations that feature some of their work from this period.
