Black Midi is a British experimental rock band formed in London in 2017. The group consists of Geordie Greep (vocals, guitar), Cameron Picton (bass, vocals), and Morgan Simpson (drums), with former member Matt Kwasniewski-Kelvin (guitar) having left the band in 2021. Known for their dynamic sound and energetic performances, Black Midi quickly gained attention in the London underground music scene. They released their debut album "Schlagenheim" in June 2019 to critical acclaim, which was followed by their sophomore album "Cavalcade" in May 2021. Both albums showcase the band's ability to blend a variety of genres, including post-punk, math rock, and experimental rock. Their third album "Hellfire," released in July 2022, continued to build on their reputation for complex compositions and innovative musicianship. Black Midi has been praised for their technical proficiency and inventive approach to music-making, earning them a dedicated following and recognition as one of the most exciting contemporary bands in the UK's alternative music scene.
