Egisto Macchi

Italian avant-garde composer and musician

Egisto Macchi (1928–1992) was an Italian composer, known for his contributions to film, television, and library music. Born in Grosseto, Macchi was a prolific artist who studied under the guidance of Goffredo Petrassi. He was one of the founding members of the Gruppo di Improvvisazione Nuova Consonanza (Group of New Consonance), an avant-garde ensemble that explored free improvisation and contemporary classical music, which also included renowned composer Ennio Morricone among its members.
