BBC Radiophonic Workshop

Pioneering British electronic music and sound effects collective

The BBC Radiophonic Workshop was an innovative group of sound engineers and musicians based at the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC). Established in 1958, the Workshop became a pioneer in electronic music and sound effects for radio and television. The collective was responsible for creating some of the most iconic sounds of the 20th century, including the original theme music for the science fiction series "Doctor Who," composed by Ron Grainer and realized by Delia Derbyshire.
