Psychobilly

Psychobilly is a genre of music generally described as a mix between late punk and American rockabilly. The lyrics often refer to horror and gore films, violence, repulsive forms of sexuality and other generally taboo subjects, although they often do so in a comedic or ambiguous hyperbole. Psychobilly is played on guitar, drums, and (bare-handed) double bass instead of the electric bass that is more common in modern rock music. The British band The Meteors are generally considered to be the founders of psychobilly. In the late 1980s, the genre spread to the rest of Europe and the USA. Bands such as Nekromantix, Tiger Army, Demented Are Go, The Batmobile, The Horrorpops and the German Mad Sin were formed. In the Czech Republic, Green Monster, The Rocket Dogz or Mordor's Gang are probably the best known representatives of this genre.
