The Exciters

The Exciters

1960s American Pop and R&B Group

The Exciters were a dynamic R&B and soul group that emerged in the early 1960s, originally formed in Queens, New York. The group initially consisted of lead singer Brenda Reid, her husband Herb Rooney, Carolyn Johnson, and Lillian Walker. They are best known for their hit single "Tell Him," released in 1962, which reached No. 4 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart. The Exciters' energetic sound and powerful vocals set them apart and made them a significant act during the era of soul and early rock 'n' roll.
