The Crusaders

The Crusaders

Jazz Fusion Pioneers

The Crusaders were an American jazz fusion group that was prolific in the 1970s and 1980s, known for their unique blend of jazz, pop, and soul music. Originally formed in Houston, Texas in the early 1960s, they started as the Jazz Crusaders before shortening their name in 1971 to reflect a broadening musical palette. The core members of the group included Joe Sample on keyboards, Stix Hooper on drums, Wilton Felder on saxophone and bass, and Wayne Henderson on trombone.
