Dutch death metal band

Pestilence is a Dutch death metal band formed in 1986 by guitarist and vocalist Patrick Mameli. The band initially started as a thrash metal outfit but evolved into a more progressive death metal sound over time. Pestilence gained international recognition in the death metal scene with their second album, "Consuming Impulse," released in 1989, which showcased a more brutal and straightforward death metal approach compared to their debut album "Malleus Maleficarum." This was followed by "Testimony of the Ancients" in 1991, which saw the band incorporating more technical and atmospheric elements into their music.
