Ottawan

Ottawan

French Disco Duo

Ottawan was a French disco duo that gained popularity in the late 1970s and early 1980s. The group was fronted by Caribbean-born singers Jean Patrick (baptismal name Jean Patrick Baptiste) and Annette (full name Annette Eltice), who were assembled by French producers Daniel Vangarde and Jean Kluger. Ottawan is best known for their hit singles "D.I.S.C.O." and "Hands Up (Give Me Your Heart)" which became disco anthems across Europe and beyond, achieving significant chart success. The band's name is a play on the word "Ottawa," the capital of Canada, with the intention to sound American, although they were based in France. Their catchy tunes and upbeat rhythms encapsulated the feel-good vibe of the disco era, making them a staple in dance music compilations of that time. Despite their brief period of prominence, Ottawan's music continues to be celebrated in retro music circles and on nostalgic playlists.
