Grauzone

Grauzone

Swiss post-punk/new wave band

Grauzone was a Swiss band that emerged in the early 1980s, known for their unique blend of post-punk, new wave, and electronic music. The band was formed in 1980 by brothers Stephan Eicher and Martin Eicher, along with Marco Repetto. They gained significant attention with their self-titled album "Grauzone," released in 1981, which included their most famous single "Eisbär." The song "Eisbär" became a hit in various European countries and is often associated with the Neue Deutsche Welle movement, despite the band being Swiss. Grauzone's music was characterized by its experimental soundscapes and use of synthesizers, which set them apart from many of their contemporaries. The band's career was relatively short-lived; they disbanded in 1982 after releasing just one full-length album and a handful of singles. Despite their brief existence, Grauzone left a lasting impact on the post-punk and new wave scenes.
