Fat Freddy's Drop is a New Zealand-based band known for their unique blend of dub, reggae, soul, jazz, rhythm and blues, and techno. Formed in Wellington in the late 1990s, the group has gained international acclaim for their improvisational live performances and diverse soundscapes. Their debut studio album, "Based On A True Story," released in 2005, became an instant commercial success in New Zealand and is regarded as one of the best-selling albums in the country's history. The band consists of several members including Dallas Tamaira (also known as Joe Dukie) on vocals, Chris Faiumu (DJ Fitchie) on production and mixing duties, and several other musicians contributing to their rich sound.
