David Coverdale is a renowned English rock singer who is best known as the lead vocalist for the rock band Whitesnake, which he founded in 1978. Before his tenure with Whitesnake, Coverdale rose to fame as the frontman for Deep Purple, joining the band in 1973 and contributing to their transition from progressive rock to a more bluesy hard rock sound. He recorded three studio albums with Deep Purple before the group disbanded in 1976. Following his time with Deep Purple, Coverdale embarked on a solo career, releasing his first album "White Snake" in 1977, which later inspired the name of his band.
