Conny Plank

Conny Plank

Influential German Record Producer and Sound Engineer

Conny Plank was a renowned German record producer and sound engineer who significantly influenced the development of electronic and experimental music from the 1970s onwards. Born in Hütschenhausen in 1940, Plank became a key figure in the Krautrock movement, working with seminal bands such as Kraftwerk, Neu!, and Cluster. His innovative production techniques and openness to new sounds helped shape the music of a wide range of artists, including Brian Eno, Ultravox, and the Eurythmics. Plank's studio, located near Cologne, became a hub for avant-garde musicians seeking to push the boundaries of contemporary music. His collaborative approach and pioneering use of technology left an indelible mark on the music industry. Conny Plank passed away in 1987, but his legacy continues to influence producers and artists across various genres.
