Bill Evans was an influential American jazz pianist known for his nuanced touch, lyrical phrasing, and innovative approach to harmony. Born on August 16, 1929, in Plainfield, New Jersey, Evans began receiving classical piano training at a young age but was drawn to jazz in his teenage years. He attended Southeastern Louisiana University, where he studied music theory and composition. His career took a significant turn when he joined the Miles Davis Sextet in 1958, contributing to the seminal album "Kind of Blue," which remains one of the best-selling jazz albums of all time.
